I have an enduring fondness for pelicans. They are both ungainly and elegant depending on their place in the world. Walking on land – ungainly, soaring on the breeze – elegant. I love their bicolour feathers and their curiosity or even boldness, when they think they can get an effortless dinner. I recall community outrage when a council decided to place spikes atop streetlights to prevent them from roosting (the spikes were quickly removed). So obviously I’m not the only one to enjoy them.
Here are a couple of images I took over the weekend – enjoy.
